I was going to post about my soldering with Sally Jean class (Art & Soul retreat) today, but remembered it was Paint Party Friday - so change of plans.
Sharing a piece I worked on a couple of evenings after a long day of classes...
Sister Posies
Tomorrow - Soldering with Sally Jean;)
Sharing a piece I worked on a couple of evenings after a long day of classes...
Sister Posies
Acrylics on textured background, colored pencil, watercolors, napkins, pen
I focused more on layering with glazes and deepening the background thanks to Serena's class.
I could probably keep going, and may later...but I have other pieces in the works I think I'll play with right now....
Hope you like and will share your art for Paint Party Friday
Tomorrow - Soldering with Sally Jean;)

ReplyDeleteHelloooo,
ReplyDeletejust caught up and read your blogs from this week and last, very interesting as some teachers take you away from just going straight in with the paint and take you back to drawing and shading for form volume and values, I like your apple and your trio of faces, but them I like your work where you have drawn first too,
I am stuck on a very important piece at the moment because I can't decide whether to sketch and water colour ( soft floaty pretty) or go straight at it withthe acrylics ( deep vibrant yeehah) I have months to complete to deadline, but am now getting buttefiles because I am takign on other stuff that I don't have to do to avaid doignthe thing I rally do Need to Get on with...I can see the image I wnat in my head and it is so gorgeous - and yet everytime I look at my blank canvas I freeze.
arrghhhh - how did you feel? is it freeing to not draw first? I am just so worried that I wont have time to take a more experimental approach to it then regret it and not have time to do it in a way I know it Will Work.
Sorry it's my problem not yours...I guess I just need to know if other people get this angst too???
wonderful work, they are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHi Ms. Doone WOYWW Pal!
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts - Go with acrylics, no initial sketch - just keep layering...and layering...and layering. If you have access to the latest issue of Cloth, paper, scissors featuring Serena Barton I would recommend it for guidance. YES - Blank canvases can induce angst, but I know if I don't like it, there's always gesso. Wondering if you might have time to do 2 simultaneously...like when one is drying, work on the other...looking forward to seeing this piece or pieces Donna!
Oh i love the idea of sisters posies and the flowers as their hair! beautiful textured work, here too! wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteNice work here ...Loving the layers.
ReplyDeleteCurious on your soldering....pendants, houses or niches? The possibilities are endless. I bought Sally Jean's book "Pretty Little Things". Many fun projects.Have fun at the class.
