I have this terrific journal started from a class taught by Kristen Steiner / Adventures in Italy.  I recently unearthed more ephemera!  Time to add more pages…and schedule another visit….

A Glimpse

It's one of those days where I must calm my mind and tend to domestic responsibilities.  I can live in chaos to a point…then…the twitchiness sets in.  I will catch up on the news, listen to music as I scrub and dust  and organize the "twitchies" away…then I will begin messing things up again as I continue to work on several series…here's a glimpse of one:

Homage to Lilly P

While working on my new contemporary figure series, I finished this piece...

"Homage to Lilly P." 24 x 24 gallery wrapped canvas

Cropped version of "Homage to Lilly P."

Lots of wonderful texture on this piece created with acrylics and gels.  I also included acrylic skins on the focal point flower.

My inspiration was Lilly Pulitzer.  She was quite well known for her "preppy Palm Beach" style.  Bright pinks and greens are her trademark.

According to Wikipedia:  "Lilly and husband Peter Pulitzer settled in Palm Beach, Florida, shortly after their marriage. Peter owned several Florida citrus orange groves, and with produce from the groves Lilly opened a juice stand on Via Mizner, just off Worth Avenue in Palm Beach. In the course of working at the juice stand, Lilly found that squeezing juice made a mess of her clothes. Seeking to camouflage the juice stains, she designed a sleeveless shift dress made of bright, colorful printed cotton. She found that customers loved her dress, so she produced more in order to sell them at her juice stand. Eventually, she was selling more dresses than juice, and decided to focus on designing and selling what had become known as her "Lillys".^{[4]"     Who knew?}

I've been working...and working...& did I say...working?

I'm developing a new series here ... yes, a series:  a number of related or similar objects

"Aria":  an elaborate melody sung solo with accompaniment, as in an opera or oratorio

I say..."yes, a series:  a number of related or similar objects" because I think I may...did I say MAY?....ok...I definitely have commitment issues...

"Eclipse":  a reduction or loss of spender, status reputation

However....this new series of mine which I call "Wallflowers"  is so exhilarating to me....

"Ebullience":  high spirits; exhilaration; exuberance

that it doesn't feel like a commitment at all....rather, a pleasure...a study...an experiment...

"Luminous":  radiating or reflecting light; shining; bright

I am looking forward to sharing more....

"Surrender":  to give (oneself) up to some influence, source, emotion

and reading your comments on this journey....

"Wanderlust":  a strong, innate desire to rove or travel about
