Creating is a wonderful outlet…

These are crops from a piece I will be exhibiting in an upcoming show…

Once those lyrics get in my head….glee is inevitable…it's time for skipping…wiggling…clapping, bouncing with the pup, smiles... smiles… and layering of vibrant garden hues that make me…..

A Glimpse

It's one of those days where I must calm my mind and tend to domestic responsibilities.  I can live in chaos to a point…then…the twitchiness sets in.  I will catch up on the news, listen to music as I scrub and dust  and organize the "twitchies" away…then I will begin messing things up again as I continue to work on several series…here's a glimpse of one:

SherbeT {shur'bit}

I couldn't get the color scheme of sherbet out of my mind when working on a recent diptych…Sherbet ….Sixties…Sweet…Innocent…Young...

Inspiration from a generous friend who gifted me a slew of treasures including sewing patterns {Thank You Norma and Tam} followed by a couple of Better Homes and Gardens cookbooks published in the early 60's bought at a local flea market when visiting family…

Explorations of the early 60's…Memories of our family routines that are so different from today…I'm not sure there is a person out there who could keep up with our parents' schedules… I can't...

I've been working...and working...& did I say...working?

I'm developing a new series here ... yes, a series:  a number of related or similar objects

"Aria":  an elaborate melody sung solo with accompaniment, as in an opera or oratorio

I say..."yes, a series:  a number of related or similar objects" because I think I may...did I say MAY?....ok...I definitely have commitment issues...

"Eclipse":  a reduction or loss of spender, status reputation

However....this new series of mine which I call "Wallflowers"  is so exhilarating to me....

"Ebullience":  high spirits; exhilaration; exuberance

that it doesn't feel like a commitment at all....rather, a pleasure...a study...an experiment...

"Luminous":  radiating or reflecting light; shining; bright

I am looking forward to sharing more....

"Surrender":  to give (oneself) up to some influence, source, emotion

and reading your comments on this journey....

"Wanderlust":  a strong, innate desire to rove or travel about

The Foxglove Sisters

Greetings from Fiona, Felicity & Frieda Foxglove....
They showed up on my workdesk from yesterday's canvas for WOYWW hosted by Ms Dunnit and Paint Party Friday hosted by Eva and Kristin.

Frieda is sporting a bumblebee in her foxgloves...
Got to work on getting that to show up a bit more..
And some tweaks along the way....
More outlining detail on the foxgloves and more skin tone layers...

I Know This Girl.....

I know this girl who works at Starbucks

She's a coffee connoisseur

She can rattle off those coffee orders that are like a foreign language to me

She tests me on the acronyms that are on the side of the cup

My memory is usually not so good

Yesterday I met her and one of her coworkers for lunch

There was alot of Starbucks chatter

It was interesting being with her in this environment

listening to their connection

and Starbucks Stories

This is only a tiny part of her world.

She goes to school full time

Most mornings she is up at the crack of dawn

If she is not scheduled for work at Starbucks, she's exercising her body and brain

She's the most organized person I know

She always makes time for her friends and is usually the one doing all the driving

She is the best friend I know

She likes singing to our dog

Our dog tries to sing with her

It's funny

She is the funniest person I know

She always does her best

I am so proud of her everyday

She makes me want to be a better person

BUT

Don't tell her this...

I'm a Dunkin' Donuts iced coffee drinker.
